Outreach
Though our life together demands the commitment of each individual, we are not interested in building up community just for ourselves. It is in this sense that we have participated over many years in movements for education, justice and peace. In the 1930s-40s we took in war refugees; in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s (in the USA) we marched against war overseas and racism in our own backyard.
More recently, we have sent church members to volunteer as teachers in a tsunami-stricken village in Thailand, supported the efforts of local bushfire fighters and SES workers, and assisted with flood cleanup and relief work. We regularly host community-building events for our neighbourhood, and try to offer a helping hand or listening ear where we can.next >>
