Beyond that, we feel it is vital for our children to learn to work with their hands and to develop a conscience and strong character. And it is equally important for them to interact with people from all over the world, and to develop a sense of obligation to others less fortunate than themselves.
Thus a primary goal of education in our Bruderhof communities is to help our children become responsible citizens who will contribute to society, whatever they do in life.
Children of Bruderhof families do not automatically become members but are encouraged to form their own opinions and (usually after high school) to try their wings elsewhere before deciding whether to join the community or follow another path in life.
